Not Just for Kids

Coming tomorrow to Jammin’ Java, Gustafer Yellowgold is here to show that kid’s shows are just as good for adults.

Created in 2005 by illustrator/composer/performer Morgan Taylor, Gustafer Yellowgold is a multimedia experience about a chipper man from the sun who now resides happily in Minnisota with Slim the Eel.

Taylor draws heavily on pop influences to construct his music, meaning ol’ Gustafer touches that special part of the brain all pop music touches. Taylor’s talent has been such to catch the eye of headline acts like Wilco and The Poilyphonic Spree, opening for both bands as they’ve toured.

But more than subtle, pleasurable brainwashing, Morgan’s show has a certain charm to it, like a kid’s drawing pinned on the refrigerator. There’s something familiar, but unique about Yellowgold’s adventures that walks comfortably in the realm of childlike whimsy and imagination.

Couple Taylor’s poppy lyrics with his hand-drawn animations and you have the perfect recipe for genuine delight and entertainment.

Gustafer Yellowgold will be shown at Jammin’ Java tomorrow, April 6, at 10:30 a.m. Tickets can be bought here.

Check him out!
